Clergy at St Helen's

Canon John Griffiths

Canon Griffiths was born in Cwmbah, Aberdare.  After leaving Bishop Hedley High School, Merthyr Tydfil, he worked as a Junior Lab Assistant in Dunlopillo, Hirwaun before processding to commence his studies for the priesthood at St Mary's College, Aberystwyth.  Canon Griffiths then went to All Hallows Seminary, Dublin.

Canon Griffiths was ordained priest at St. David's Cathedral, Cardiff Aberdare and then served as curate at Our Lady & St Patrick's, Maesteg.  Following his time as a curate, Canon Griffiths spent time as parish priest of Treochy with Ferndale and Abertillery with Brynmawr before being appointed as parish priest of St Helen's in September 1996.

Canon Griffiths is the Dean of the Pontypridd Deanery, a Trustee of the Archdiocese of Cardiff and a member of the Cathedral Chapter.
