St. Vincent De Paul Society - SVP
St. Vincent De Paul (SVP) The Society of St Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic Organisation of lay people founded in Paris in 1833 by Frederick Ozanam and his companions. Placed under the patronage of St Vincent de Paul, it is inspired by his thinking and his works. It seeks, in a spirit of Justice and Charity, to help those who are suffering. It does this by person to person involvement of its members. We the members of the society visits and benefits the sick, housebound, lonely, elderly, bereaved, needy etc in the community for both Catholic and Non-Catholic. We are able to give practical and financial help where needed. All the funding to provide and help the community can never be done if it wasn't for the generosity, through the Church collections and private donations. So from the Organizers of the society, they would like to express many thanks for making this possible, especially the people who receives such generosity. Unfortunately, the Society does not have furniture warehouse at their disposal, so they cannot accept furniture. Should we need furniture or any other household items; we will appeal through the Parish Newsletter. If anyone has any furniture they wish to give to the needy, Caerphilly County Borough Council has an excellent Community Furniture enterprise scheme. They will collect furniture and some electrical goods free of charge (must be in good and sound condition and soft furnishings and mattresses etc must be to fire regulation standard). The furniture etc is restored and then made available to the needy for a moderate charge. The Society has and always proven to be such a great success to the needy, and that the needy are more than grateful to the society for being so generous too them at such difficult times. If anyone would like any more information regarding the Society, either look at the weekly newsletters. |
