Prayer

Jesus, I trust in You:

May I know You more clearly

Love You more dearly

And follow You more nearly

Day by Day. Amen.

During the summer season of Ordinary Time, our bishops ask us to pray for these intentions:

• Europe;
• Human Life;
• Seafarers;
• A deeper understanding between Christians and Jews;
• Those who are denied human rights, persecuted, or oppressed.

If you would like someone who is sick to be prayed for at weekend Mass, please write their name in the folder in the narthex before Mass.

The World Council of Churches invites us to pray this week for people in:

Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela 

As we prepare for Pope Benedict's visit to the UK in September, please do make use of the official prayer on the cards distributed this weekend.

If you would like someone who is sick to be prayed for at weekend Mass, please write their name in the folder in the narthex before Mass.

Do remember in your prayers Mary Coughlin and Elizabeth Joan Szaszko, who have died recently.

Please pray with Pope Benedict in July, that in every nation of the world the election of officials may be carried out with justice, transparency and honesty, respecting the free decisions of citizens; and that Christians may strive to offer everywhere, but especially in great urban centres, an effective contribution to the promotion of education, justice, solidarity and peace.

Papal Visit 2010: Prayer for the Visit

God of truth and love,

your Son, Jesus Christ, stands as the light

to all who seek you with a sincere heart.

As we strive with your grace

to be faithful in word and deed,

may we reflect the kindly light of Christ

and offer a witness of hope and peace to all.

We pray for Pope Benedict

and look forward with joy

to his forthcoming visit to our countries.

May he be a witness to the unity and hope

which is your will for all people.

We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
