Corrections / Approval of Minutes of meeting of 30th March 2009: Minutes were approved. There were two erroneous reports, firstly Deacon Philip Gummett had gone to Roehampton, not Northampton, but had now returned to the area and was now retired; secondly the reference to 'non-school uniform' days was not directed at any local schools in the Deanery. 4/. Matters arising: Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist recollection days, dates for 2010: After discussion about logistics, it was decided to have main recollection at Llantarnam and the second at Caerphilly. On both days buses would be arranged from Treorchy picking up at Churches on route. Parishioners from Bargoed would be transported by cars to Caerphilly. Dates would be arranged by Canon John. Deanery Web site: Web site now 'up and running' and parish editors in place or nearly so. Council thanked Joy Dellip Kumar and Thomas Beach for their help and technical support. The secretary was asked to write to them both. 5/. "Home is a Holy Place" Archdiocesan launch April 25th at Corpus Christi School: Council had the opportunity to view the DVD, straight through, appreciating that there was some loss of impact due to missing out the discussion periods. Council proposed to hold an evening Deanery launch on Tuesday 14th July 2009 commencing 7pm at Caerphilly with 2 representatives (plus clergy) from each parish community. Parish communities from H of V deanery would be invited to join the evening. It was hoped that Anne Ballard, Chair of the Family Life Commission, would lead the evening. (Post meeting, this is confirmed). 6/. Guild of St. Stephen for Altar servers: This was a very successful day, with approximately 40 servers present, 3 10year medals were presented. It was hoped all the Deanery communities would join the Guild. It was hoped this would be an annual event. 7/. Days of recollection for other ministries (Other than Eucharistic Ministers): Nothing to report, raise at the next meeting. 8/. Points from Eucharistic Communities. Abercynon: The Corpus Christi procession was not re-instated but now only as a Parish event. Sunday June 14th at 3pm, Mass, procession and benediction. Bargoed: Deacon Mel now in place as support to Fr. Michael Cronin. The Chair asked if parish communities could inform him regarding catechesis arrangements so that Bargoed parishioners could have the opportunity of attending. A quiz night had been held and was much enjoyed, another was to be arranged in November. Caerphilly: Catechesis programme ended, 5 confirmed. Two attended Home is a Holy Place launch. Fund raising events include quiz night and film shows. Trips to "Sound of Music" and "Les Miserables" have been arranged. A very profitable choir night was recently held. Miskin: Canon Daly's 60th Jubilee celebrated on 5th June, fortunately he was out of hospital. A fund has been formed to raise money for a commemorative item to celebrate the occasion. 5 people were confirmed. UCM visiting Stratford on June 13th. Rhondda: No report. Treforest: The parish working groups are to meet up shortly with Des Robertson. There is to be a "Celebration of Parish activities" on June 20th. Eucharistic Minister training was to be arranged. Ynyshir: Our Lady Procession was very poorly attended. Cardinal Newman School: No report. 9/. Any other business: Canon John requested that he should be advised of all key holders to church doors and tabernacles as a matter of urgency. 10/. Date of Next Meeting: Executive meeting Monday 14th September. Council meeting Monday 21st September 2009. 11/. The meeting closed at 9:18pm. . |
